Preferring to paint on location, Georgene Pomplun delights in exploring the grand variety of texture and color afforded by fields and farms. She strives to capture the essence of the quality of light and atmosphere. When the weather precludes outdoor work, interiors and still lifes of everyday objects are her subjects of choice.
Georgene's thirty-five years in the discipline of graphic design inform the composition of her paintings. The tactile nature of the paint itself, however, is the lure of the medium for her. Oil paint has the added attraction of drying slowly, so that layers can be worked and reworked, and that capability allows a depth and dimension not easily attainable in other media.
