He was born in 1955 at the foot of the Montagne Sainte Victoire near the town of Aix en Provence. As a young man he had a passion for the arts and took many drawing and architecture classes to develop his skills. Magre first studied drawing and architecture before becoming more involved in the world of art. After many years of painting nudes and doing charcoal sketches he turned to impressionism, thus following in the footsteps of Masters like Monet, Pissaro and Sisley. His main source of inspiration for the last years has been subjects related to Provence, because of the light, the warm tones, the ‘mistral’ and the olive trees. The work of Louis Magre can be found in various galleries in France, Belgium and the United States.
