Hong, Yuan

Hong Yuan was born 1963 in the Jilin province of Outer Mongolia. At the age of fourteen Hong was sent to the state-run Soon Bin School of Art to explore his natural talents. With a Fine Arts degree from the University of China, Hong has since dedicated himself to painting Chinese collage in his studio in Jilin Province. Hong is an artist whose impulse for creativity is rarely at rest. He is continually seeking new modes of expression and unusual contextual combinations of collage. Hong Yuan's collages combine ancient Chinese culture with an open gaze to the future. East meets West with Hong's stylized, western painting approach and the iconography of the East.
